While we were bummed about the fact that our favourite teleshow Koffee with Karan was under scrutiny and a bad light for quite some time now after the episode with Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul, it is back (and with a bang) with the latest episode featuring Bhumi Pednekar and Rajkummar Rao. In a particularly interesting and engaging episode, the two revealed secrets and spoke about a lot including their work, perceptions by the audience and obviously, their love lives!
Bhumi was absolutely lovable on the show and her candeur made us fall head over heels in love with her. She started by talking about how more than often, people judge her from her appearances in movies like Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha as a small town chick when she is just the opposite. She humoured everyone on the set by saying how people often act surprised after talking to her and realising how fluent she is with English.
After Bhumi got talking on the Koffee with Karan, it was Rao’s turn and he spoke up for the first time about his training in Martial Arts. To our surprise, he also mentioned how he is not just a trained artist but in fact, has won a sequence of gold medals during the Nationals as well. It got us to thinking about Rao in a “Masala Maardhaar” movie where he puts his Martial Arts skills to good use in beating a villain or 10 of them.
However, one of the most surprising confessions of all was when Bhumi spoke about her career before she started acting with her debut, Dum laga Ke Haisha. She actually worked as an assistant casting director for Yash Raj Films. Wait till you hear this, but she has auditioned many A-list Bollywood celebs today such as Ranveer Singh, Rajkummar Rao, Kriti Sanon and Disha Patani. When Karan asked more questions about this, she gave us the goss by saying that she thought Disha was “kachcha” whereas Parineeti was amazing. When asked about fellow coffee drinker, Rao, she said that he was “Okay”.
Our favourite part is when Karan gets talking about love lives, crushes and marriage on the cards. When Rao was asked about which co-star he gave his heart to, he said it is Patralekhaa is co-star in CityLights. Well, this answer was so obvious that we won’t even give you a pat on the back for it. They have been dating for a long time now and it is no secret. When Karan asked him if marriage was in the near future, he said “I still feel like a kid. Mentally I’m not ready to get married. We’re very happy and our parents are happy — they’re not complaining,”
Since wedding bells are not in the cards right now, we are hopeful that good movies will definitely be there in the future for both of them, Bhumi and Rajkummar Rao.
