#MeToo: FIR filed against Alok Nath

The Mumbai Police has registered a First Information Report against Veteran Actor Mr Alok Nath. The FIR is registered after the allegation of rape on Alok Nath by writer-producer Nanda.

According to a report by news agency ANI, ACP Manoj Sharma said that The Oshiwara Police has filed an FIR against Alok Nath under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code. Section 376 is filed for rape cases.

Nanda filed a complaint against Alok Nath on 17th of October at the Oshiwara police station. She complained in the FIR that Alok Nath raped her near twenty years ago. At the same time, Alok Nath was kicked out from the famous TV show Tara. He was sacked for harassing its lead actress.

Earlier Nanda has posted on Facebook writing her story about how Alok Nath molested and raped her. Nanda wrote about Alok Nath, "He was an alcoholic, shameless and obnoxious but he was also the television star of that decade, so not only was he forgiven for all his bad behaviour, many of the guys would also egg him on to be his worst.”

Following Nanda’s Post on Facebook, Alok Nath had filed a civil defamation suit against Nanda for accusing him of rape, on October 15. Alok Nath sought a written apology and a compensation of One rupee from Nanda in the defamation case.

Nanda is not the only woman who spoke out against Alok Nath. Just a few days after Nanda spoke out about being raped by Alok Nath, actor Sandhya Mridul had also alleged that Alok Nath sexually harassed her.
