After the opposition unity boost, on Friday, Indian Congress Party (INC) chief Rahul Gandhi joined hands with Janta Dal-Secular (JD-S) for the upcoming Lok Sabha election in 2019. The announcement was officially made by the General Secretary of Congress K. C. Venugopal in the presence of Chief Minister (CM) H. D. Kumaraswamy.
Venugopal stated, “It has been decided that Congress and JD-S will fight the next Lok Sabha elections as pre-polls allies”. However, no statements on the number of seats are announced yet. It is said that the seats will be decided later on once the things get settled.
It is announced just a day later to the Kairana Lok Sabha bypolls in Uttar Pradesh in which joint opposition was able to defeat BJP. It is claimed that it is a way for the parties to join hands together and work against BJP to defeat them in the Lok Sabha election 2019.
Even though the Karnataka elections were fought by JD-S and Congress separately, they are all set to work together in order to defeat other and form a Government together. They are following the split verdict in which it is claimed that BJP is one of the largest single party in the state.
There are many leaders that are supporting the decision of Congress and JD-S to come together and fight off congress in the upcoming elections like Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal and Trinamool Congress Chief Minister.
It will be amazing to see what this ally will result in the Lok Sabha election 2019. Will they be able to fulfil their wish that make them come together or will the table will be turned at the last moment?
