At the age of 94, the 5-time Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, DMK Patriarch M Karunanidhi dies

The 5-time Tamil Nadu Chief Minister that has managed to rule the state politics for the total of six decades along with J Jayalalithaa and arch-rival M Ramachandran dies on Tuesday in a Chennai hospital. On 28th July, the 94-year-old leader was taken to the hospital and was admitted in Kauvery Hospital when his health was disturbed due to the urinary tract infection. This develops a fever as well that resulted in his immediate observations and treatments.

"Despite the best possible efforts by our team of doctors and nurses to resuscitate him, he failed to respond," a statement come and was noted that he died at 6:10 pm.

Karunanidhi was in danger since 29th July, when his vital dropped all of a sudden that triggered a panic and concern among people. After a few hours, the doctors managed to stabilise his condition and called it a transient setback. The doctors advised to keep him under observation for a few days to ensure that he is fit to go home citing that, ‘age-related overall decline, altered liver function and haematological parameters”.

However, on Monday morning, his health become more challenging and it was now becoming difficult to maintain his vital organ functioning that remains a challenge in the view of the age-related ailments. The next 24 hours were crucial for him.

The body of DMK president has been taken to his home in Chennai, Gopalapuram and then to CIT colony that is his other residence. It is said that they will take him next to Rajaji Hall where people can pay their respect and then the remains will be laid on Wednesday.

There were many big faces that come forward and show their respect on the death of the most loved, prolific thinker, mass leader, stalwart devotee and accomplished writer, Karunanidhi including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He tweeted, “Deeply saddened by the passing away of Kalaignar Karunanidhi. He was one of the senior most leaders of India.
We have lost a deep-rooted mass leader, prolific thinker, accomplished writer and a stalwart whose life was devoted to the welfare of the poor and the marginalised.”
He then added, “I have had the opportunity of interacting with Karunanidhi Ji on several occasions. His understanding of policy and emphasis on social welfare stood out. Firmly committed to democratic ideals, his strong opposition to the Emergency will always be remembered.”
