Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Former Prime Minister in Critical condition on life support

On Independence Day, a news came out that was heartbreaking for all the people of our nation. The Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee is in critical condition since Tuesday and is put upon the life support system. He was in the hospital for over nine weeks and yesterday evening a news came out of him being in a very serious condition with deteriorating health.

Vajpayee is 93-year-old and 10th Prime Minister of India was admitted in the hospital on 11th June due to a chest congestion, kidney tract infection and urine output on the lower side. On Wednesday, when current PM Narendra Modi visited AIIMS to meet Atal Bihari Vajpayee then hours after that a statement was released in by the doctors on the undergoing treatment and deteriorating health of the former PM.


PM Modi was in the hospital at 7:15 pm and spend 50 minutes with the family. This is his 4th visit to the former PM since he was in the hospital admitted and undergoing the treatment.

There were many well-known ministers that visited Atal Bihari Vajpayee including Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Vice President M Benkaiah Naidu, Veteran BJP Leader LK Advani and BJP President Amit Shah. Even today, Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee will be flying to India to pay her visit to the most loved PM.

Even BJP Lawmaker Meenakshi Lekhi, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani visited the hospital to inquire about the health of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.


Vajpayee’s niece Kanti Mishra stated, "I have been praying to god that just once I can see him give a speech again. Our family can never ever erase that image of his from our minds. I hope he gets well soon," 

Vajpayee was born in 1924 and has to be in the supervision of DR Randeep Guleria who is a well-known pulmonologist and is a doctor of AIIMS. Dr Guleria has to be a personal physician to Atal Bihari Vajpayee for over three decades.

Even a team of doctors including gastroenterology, nephrology, and cardiology and pulmonology department are looking after former PM.


Vajpayee was a PM that was elected for three years in between 1996 and 1999 and is also the first non-Congress PM to complete the term of five years from the year 1999 to 2004. However, a few years back, he started to withdrawn himself from public eyes and confined himself at his home.
