Five Maoists were killed during an open with Security forces near Odisha's Malangiri district.
The open fire was going on between Security forces and Maoists since Sunday NIght. The main area affected was Paplur under the Kalimela police station, which also falls near the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.
A tip was given off to the police that the main Moist leader Randev, who heads the Kalimela Dalam of the Moist organisation, was with other Maoists at the spot.
Additional Director General (ADG)- operations R. P. Koche said that a load of ammunition was retrieved after the mission. While five Maoists, four male and one female were killed in the operation. The ammunition includes Some rifles and 303 grenades.
It is suspected that there were many other Maoists present there too which escaped on time from the camp. The police have started a search operation to track them down. As per the account of Mr Meena, there was exchange of fire still going on in the area. Further details of the operation may come in a few hours.
Till this report is written, no security person is injured in the operation, while it speculated that a few Maoists are injured in the open fire which may be hiding from the security forces.
It said that the operation is in reply to attack done by Maoists a few days ago in which a Doordarshan camera person was killed.
