The statue of Unity was a huge hit. PM Narendra get many rounds of applauds by Nationalists for building the statue of Sardar Patel. Seeing the huge margin between investment and profit, Yogi Adityanath announced to build a deity of Lord Ram just after few days of inaugural of Statue of Unity. Now, Karnataka Govt. doesn’t want to be left behind in the game. Karnataka Govt. has proposed to build a statue of Mother Cauvery/Kavery of height 125 feet.
The statue was announced on Wednesday by Govt. of Karnataka, a coalition of Congress and JDS. They said that the statue is proposed to be built on Krishna Raja Sagar reservoir in Mandya district. The total of this statue project is estimated around 1200 crore INR. The project will cover an area of 400 acres. The proposed date of completion is two year after the project starts. The govt. said that they are seeking the help of some private investors and are planning to initiate the project in a few months.
According to a news report by Livemint, the project will include a statue of Goddess Cauvery, a museum complex, two glass houses measuring around 360 feet that will give a bird’s eye view of the reservoir, a bandstand, indoor stadium and replicas of historical monuments.
The idea of Mother Cauvery was proposed by Water Resources Minister D K Shivakumar and Tourism Minister Sa Ra Mahesh.
When asked about the topic, Karnataka Water Resources Minister DK Shivakumar said, “It is not exactly a statue, it will be like a tower. The land already belongs to the govt and we will be inviting investors to invest in it, no government money will be used. It will be a tourist destination,”
