Delhi – the ultimate place to be

Delhi – the ultimate place to be

The capital of India better known as Lutyen’s Delhi has a lot under its belly. All the high end political ups and downs and all the major decisions of the government are taken here as it is also known as the “political capital of the country”. All the political parties have their headquarters and man force planted in the capital city bordered by other states as Haryana and U.P.

Apart from being the hot headed centre for politics with parliament house, Rashtrapati Bhawan and all dignitaries residing here, Delhi has much more to offer. It houses the best wholesale markets of the country. A visit at all these is a must but at your own risk. So let’s catch a glimpse of some of these.

Dilli as it was called in the olden times has an old world charm to it when you visit the by lanes of old Delhi. The amazing aroma of the ghee ladened paranthas will welcome you in the wedding capital i.e. Chandni Chowk where you will find every designer’s lehanga waiting to be taken away by the brides to be, all sorts of decorative materials could be found at kinnari bazaar at wholesale prices. There are shops selling gold at reasonable prices and all the artificial jewellery and accessories are available at reasonable prices too. All the shops are to be explored with great zeal and not to forget the local savories of the area.

The sadar bazaar is again a wholesale market of daily used products. You can buy everything and anything in the market but a lot of walking and skill to bargain is needed. The chawri bazaar is again a wholesale market where you will find even those type of spice, pulses of which you have never heard of but mind you one of the best in the country. The Gandhi nagar market is a well known wholesale market for clothing and other clothes related stuff where you will get the same stuff being sold at half the price as compared to the retail outlets, so by any chance if you wish to save some bucks this time while clothes shopping then head to Gandhi nagar. For books the Nai sarak and daryaganj market is the place to head to for the best prices and awesome collections. Phew.

Apart from roaming in the streets of wholesale markets other markets at Karol bagh, lajpat nagar ,sarojini  nagar and kamala nagar offer amazing things and all brands under one market that too will give you value for money.

The Connaught circle with the newly built wax museum here deserves a special mention as it is the place where most corporate offices are located with top brand shops. The central park is a major attraction alongwith janpath and the palika bazaar and not to forget the wonderful emporiums of all states where you can find all the things of different states but the prices are a bit on the higher sides. The khadi shop deserves a special mention as after Modi’s coming to power the khadi revolution definitely uplifted its name. Not to forget that you will find the most amazing and happening clubs in CP thereby giving you a chance for a happening night life.

As we board a hoho bus from the Connaught place we are on for a cultural and historical treat of Delhi that includes the visit to famous Red fort, Qutub minar, Humayun tomb, Old Fort, Tughalaqabad garden etc which gives you an insight of the rich historical background of the place which was once ruled by the Mughals and the Tughlags.

The Lotus temple, Birla mandir, Jama Masjid and the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib are few religious places which talks about the diverse religious character of our capital city.

The Nehru museum, doll museum, rail museum, the Nehru planetarium, the Delhi zoo and the history museum are further few places which are a treat to visit for children and adults alike. The space is now falling short for me to cover more of the capital region but I just wish to say that Delhi has a charm and enigma to it which can never be lost and it only gets brighter and shinier with times to come. As they say old wines always taste the best.
