Chhatisgarh’s first phase of election is going to be held near the Maoist influenced area. And to keep a check that everything goes well, around one lakh security personnel have been deployed to Chhatisgarh. According to a report by News Agency PTI, Special Director General of anti-Moist operations Mr DM Awasthi said that enough measures have been taken to check that the election goes well.
A soldier of BSF was killed in an alleged Moist attack on Sunday.
DG Awasthi also said, “All countermeasures have been taken to thwart attempts by Maoists to disrupt the poll process.”
A few days ago a Doordarshan cameraperson was killed in a Moist attack. After the incident, Maoists said that Media should stay away from police and other government bodies as Maoists and Communists Party of India (Maoists) are boycotting the election.
Candidates are contending over 18 seats spread over 8 areas. All the eight areas are Naxal affected. The first phase of election will be held on first and the second phase will be on 20 November. The result will be announced on 11th December.
“The challenge is to escort all polling parties safely to their destination in Naxal-affected areas and later to conduct polls and bring back them safely”, Awasthi added. The police officials said that security personnel from 650 companies including BSF, CRPF, Indo-Tibetan Border Police have deployed to Chhattisgarh.
