According to Oxford’s Dictionary: Xenophobia is the extreme dislike or fear of foreigners, their customs, their religions, etc. Sounds familiar?
Xenophobia is the same phenomenon that has raised the issue of Brexit. It is the phenomenon that raised the issue of building ‘the wall’ in America. People thought it died with Hitler and Mussolini. But, Xenophobia has returned, but with different names.
The recent extreme case of Xenophobia is the killings in Mosques in New Zealand. And when the world is mourning for the dead, many are still not getting the point.
In a recent incident, an American Comedian Jessica Moore, under the alias of Jess Hilarious on Social Media, claimed that she felt threatened by some men on a plane. Those men were Sikhs, while the comic thought them to be the Muslims. In any case, there was no reason for Moore to be felt threatened.
Moore posted a video in which she was pointing at some men wearing Turbans. The four Sikhs were removed from the plane, and Moore posted another video saying that she is feeling safe now.
4 innocent Sikh passengers kicked off a plane cos celebrity @jess_hilarious was uncomfortable with their APPEARANCE
What a shame Airline company acceded to her request!
A day after Muslims were ambushed and murdered while praying (death toll now at 51), Jess Hilarious hops on Al Gore’s internet to brag about+defend getting 4 people with turbans kicked off a flight because she didn’t feel safe.
Moore faced a backlash from Social Media for Xenophobic and ignorant behaviour. However, the bigger questions remain unanswered: We were dreaming of World Peace and Global, then how have we turned up to this?
