Hillary Clinton, former United States Secretary of State and runner-up in last US Presidency elections, confirmed that she is not going to run for the presidency in the upcoming elections in 2020. While talking to journalists a show on a news channel on Tuesday, Clinton said, “I’m not running, but I’m going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe.”
In the last US presidential elections, the chances of Clinton winning the elections were higher than that of Trump. She even got more individual votes than Trump. But at last, the US didn’t get its first female president.
While talking in the show, Clinton expressed her concerns about the polarisation in the US. She said the situation is “deeply troubling”. “We’ve gotten into really opposing camps, unlike anything I’ve ever seen in my adult life. And I’m also thinking hard about how do we start talking and listening to each other again? We’ve just gotten so polarised,” said Clinton while expressing her concerns.
However, she has promised that she will be active in the politics in the 2020 elections. As a number of democratic members have announced that they are going to run for the presidency in the upcoming elections.
The Democratic candidates who have announced their names till now are Tulsi Gabbard, Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders.
“We have to work really, really hard to make our case to the American people, and I’m gonna do everything I can to help the Democrats win back the White House,” added Clinton.
Trump, in his usual form, did a Tweet on the news and called Clinton a crooked person.
“(Crooked) Hillary Clinton confirms she will not run in 2020, rules out a third bid for White House.” Aw-shucks, does that mean I won’t get to run against her again? She will be sorely missed!
