President Donald Trump seems to be pushing the merit-based immigration system to its end. He stated that the American immigration system is being unfair to the person who waited for years in a line to come to the US legally.
The high-skilled and other Indian-Americans that are living in the US due to work commitments have H-1B visas are the one that is suffering the most due to the immigration system which according to the government imposes a 7 per cent per country quota on the allotment of green cards or permanent local residency.
This results in the highly skilled immigrants of India to wait for the 70 long years to complete the proceedings as an unofficial estimate.
....Our Immigration policy, laughed at all over the world, is very unfair to all of those people who have gone through the system legally and are waiting on line for years! Immigration must be based on merit - we need people who will help to Make America Great Again!
Trump tweeted, "Our immigration policy, laughed at all over the world, is very unfair to all of those people who have gone through the system legally and are waiting on line for years! Immigration must be based on merit - we need people who will help to 'Make America Great Again',"
This tweet is more like supporting Indian’s that are waiting for years in line for the green card that includes the overwhelming number of highly educated and experienced professionals.
However, due to the limitation of the country, the Indian people living in the US have to wait over 10 years to receive their green cars or legal permanent residency.
The lawmakers are making a lot of efforts for this with both Democratic and Republican parties, but the Congress is not able to live off the limit of the country.
As per the Trump, the merit-based immigration system is a step forward for the Indian professional to take advantage of. It is all for the security of the immigrants and to unload some of their pressure.
Trump also blamed opposition party, Democrats. He said that they are responsible for the broken immigration system.
He tweeted, "Democrats, fix the laws. Don't RESIST. We are doing a far better job than (George W) Bush and (Barack) Obama, but we need strength and security at the Border! Cannot accept all of the people trying to break into our Country. Strong Borders, No Crime!
He is working for the migration thing but it is not taken any step forward. However, there are no more news on it or steps that are being taken. But hopefully, it will be a relief for the immigrants.
