Kanhaiya Kumar is a former student leader from the Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University and is extremely famous for it. He is all set to step in the venture and taking a long-awaited plunge in the political world from Begusarai. It is expected that the 31-year-old leader will be the candidate of the joint opposition in the general election that is just round the corner. He even had the support from the RJD who is not at all averse the total idea of having Kanhaiya on board.
The student leader who is extremely famous for the anti-India slogans and was allegedly to raise an event in JNU linked to the parliament attack convict Afzal Guru’s hanging is likely to be fielded by the CPI. However, there is no official announcement made yet but the CI had already made out a pitch for the veteran leader Lalu Prashad who has bowled an over by indicating the acceptance on this whole situation.
On top of that Kanhaiya Kumar who is a part of CPI’s 125-member national council is not the only one getting support from RJD. They are in favour of the grand alliance with the NC, National Congress and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM(s).
Even Kumar’s family told that he is willing to take this lead in the political world "but my party and then leaders of the alliance has to approve my name". When he was asked why he is becoming active in his hometown, he said, "Look, I'm active across the country, but Bihar and Begusarai is my birthplace. So it gets some more attention."
Kumar father is farmer and mother is an anganwadi worker living in Baruni block of Begusarai.
He added, Left parties, including the CPI, want him to contest the Lok Sabha election from Begusarai in 2019 and other parties such as Congress and RJD also want him to contest the election,". "During our talks held on earlier occasions, Prasad had agreed to leave a seat for him,"
CPI is finally ready to participate in the six Lok Sabha contest seats in Bihar. However, for the final decision, they would come out after the meeting of the seat-sharing with the like-minded people.
Kanhaiya Kumar was well known for the February 2016, when he along with his fellow students Anirban Bhattacharya and Umar Khalif were arrested for the charges of sedition in connection with the events and are out on bail.
