Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that they will be holding a Surface hardware event. As per their announcement, the event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 2nd in New York City. Just ahead of its highly-anticipated hardware event, newer leaks have turned up online. Rumours suggest that these leaks have potential information about what can be expected at the upcoming event. It appears like the Redmond technology giant might be planning on taking the wraps off Surface Laptop 2 and Surface Pro 6. It won’t come across as a surprise if the rumour actually turns out to be true. Microsoft has been expected to launch the product for quite some time now.
The company has reportedly been planning on refreshing the aforementioned devices at the upcoming event. Leading speculations further stated that the devices may come packed with a modern-day USB-C port. It’s interesting to note that the report by WinFuture completely refutes the speculation.
The report claims that the company will ditch the plan of a USB-C port and instead, choose to pack the product with a mini DisplayPort along with a Surface Connector. If this turns out to be true, users can easily connect their displays as well as charge their devices at the same time.
Adding fuel to the rumour are recent images that allegedly represent the Surface Laptop 2 product. Even the photographs seem to confirm the report by WinFuture. To recall, the company packed their Surface Book 2 laptop with USB-C several years back. However, it doesn’t seem like they have any plans of continuing with the feature.
Another report by The Verge further suggests that the base model of the upcoming Surface Laptop 2 product will come packed with 8GB of RAM. Other specifications of the laptop include an Intel Core i5 processor. On the storage front, it seems like the laptop will pack 128GB of SSD storage. According to reports, the Redmond technology giant plans on improving its storage front. As can be recalled, the predecessor consisted of 4GB of RAM. “That’s good news as the previous base model saw the Surface Laptop shipped with just 4GB of RAM. However, the Surface Pro 6 will reportedly ship with a base model that includes 4GB of RAM and an Intel Core m3 processor,” notes the report by The Verge. Apart from this, the company might pack a black colour variant for its upcoming product.
