The newly formed Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank is surrounded with alleged Fake Degree controversy. It has been said that he has applied for two-two honorary doctorates from an international university in Sri Lanka while this university is not registered in Sri Lanka.
In fact, in the '90s, Open International University of Colombo gave Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank a Doctor of Literature degree to contribute to education. A few years later, he got another D-lit. Degree from the same university. This time he was given a second degree for the contribution to science.
Surprisingly, this university is neither registered as a foreign nor a domestic university in Sri Lanka. Even Sri Lanka's University Grants Commission also confirmed it.
In this regard, an RTI file was filed in Dehradun last year came in half-incomplete information about his bio-data. Not only this, he has recorded separate birthdates in his CV and passport. According to the CV, Pokhriyal was born on August 15, 1959, while his passport says 15 July 1959.
Born on July 5, 1958, in Pinani village of Pauri district, Nishank received a bachelor's degree from Hemvati Bahuguna Garhwal University. He also has a degree in Ph.D. (Hons) and D. Lit (Hons). He has also served as a teacher in the Saraswati Shishya Vidya Mandir, run by Jashimath Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Smriti Irani has also gone through the same situation
In the previous government, when Smriti Irani was the Human Resources and Development Minister, the opposition continued to question the degree. The opposition said that in the academic qualification of 2004 and 2014 Smriti Irani gave different information. In 2004, Smriti wrote an application for graduating in Arts Degree from Delhi University in Affidavit.
In 2014, when he contested against Amethi from Amethi in 1994, she wrote about the graduation of the commerce part-1 from Delhi University in 1994. This time during the Lok Sabha elections Congress had attacked the degree.
