No communal side in Amritsar attack, says Punjab chief minister

The grenade attack that took three lives in Amritsar was made in Pakistan, said Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. He called for a press conference today to give updates made on the Amritsar bomb case.

The Chief Minister said, “I'm happy to announce that police nabbed one of the two persons involved. 26-year-old Bikramjit Singh has been arrested. The other man will also be arrested soon. His name is Avtar Singh. The person who is the mastermind is Inter-Services Intelligence. These (Harmeet Singh ‘PhD’ alias Happy) are only touts which they were using.”

Amrinder Singh also confirmed that there is no communal side of the story. According to a news report by news agency ANI, Punjab Chief Minister said, “There is no communal angle. It's a pure case of terrorism. They were targeted as they were easy targets. We had info in the past about other organisations being targeted but we took precautionary measures.”

Opposition, the akali dal, is taking the opurtunity to blame congress for the bombings.

Harminder Kaur Badal said on the topic, “First bombs and now grenade attack in Amritsar, what next Raja saab? When will you and your ministers stop encouraging elements bent on disturbing hard won peace? Stop playing politics and get down to serious governance. Punjabis don’t want to go back into a dark era.”

Sukhir Singh Badal directly accused the CM for the bombings. He said, “Cong CM Capatain Amrinder Singh is directly responsible for Amritsar attack. His policy of supporting radicals to marginalize mainstream moderate Akalis has led to the brutal killings. The same was done by the Congress in the 1980s and 1990s. Now again Congress is pushing Punjab back into bloodshed”
