Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) block president of Patna’s Paliganj Amit Bhushan Verma was shot dead late on Tuesday. Amit Bhushan Verma was attending a cultural programme in Patna. Including this one, there has been four murders of RLSP leaders in less than one year. fourth murder of an RLSP leader in less than a year.
RLSP party supremo and Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha questioned Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s and NDA’s claim of good governance.
RLSP chief and Union minister Upendra Kushwaha went to the mourning family to express grief. He said on the issue: “This is the fourth killing of an RLSP leader in a year. Law and order has gone for a six in Bihar. I wonder what kind of good governance is this.”
Kushwaha later tweeted on the issue: “One incident after another, series of incidents, there has been selective killings of our party’s leaders… Yet, Nitish Lumar and NDA call it a good governance. I guess Nitish Kumar and NDA have changed the meaning of good governance”.
“Amit Bhushan Verma was attending a cultural programme when shot. The programme was organised near by Khiri More police station. The moment he moved from the stage, a person holding gun fired four bullets at a very close range.” said the police official.
At the time of incident, there was a local police station in-charge too. He was standing behind Amit Bhushan Verma. The policeman luckily escaped the bullets. The man who fired shots later ran away in the crowd. A senior police spokesperson said, “Criminals managed to escape because of darkness. Old enmity looks to be the reason behind the killing.”
Rashtriya Lok Samta Party spokesperson Jitendra Nath reacted to the incident and said to the media that there had been a pattern behind the killing of RLSP party’s members. “Our leaders, Manish Sahni or Vaishali, Manoj Mahato of Khagaul (Patna) and Sanjay Sah of Siwan have been killed within a year. In Manoj’s case, even a witness has been killed… We demand a fair investigation,” he added.
