Rumour: OnePlus 6T to come without a headphone jack

OnePlus is expected to take the wraps off its second flagship smartphone of this year soon enough. Ahead of its grand smartphone launch, the technology giant seems to be working towards advertising the attractive features of the upcoming device. The Chinese giant has laid special emphasis on the fingerprint sensor option that will be placed on the rear panel of the smartphone. The firm reportedly wishes to work towards improving the battery life of the smartphone by ensuring that the device is powered by a much bigger battery. Another important change that OnePlus plans on making this year is through the elimination of the 3.5mm headphone jack.

According to a report by BGR, a new leak seems to suggest a whole new addition of a new feature. Citing sources coming from MySmartPrice, it appears like OnePlus is planning on adding an affordable dongle as an additional accessory along with the launch of OnePlus 6T smartphone. “It’s customary for smartphone makers to launch audio dongles as well as new headphones when removing the 3.5mm audio port. OnePlus will do precisely the same thing as various rivals,” notes BGR. The report further states that MySmartPrice showcases an alleged list of accessories that are scheduled to be launched with OnePlus 6T smartphone. The handset will also apparently be coming along with two new products with the objective of compensating the elimination of the headphone jack. The two new products are: the USB-C bullet earphones as well as the 3.5mm jack adapter cable.

However, the bad news is that interested users may have to purchase these products separately. The USB-C bullet earphones is expected to cost roughly €19.95. As can be recalled, the price is the same as the OnePlus Bullets (V2). At the same time, the adapter will cost roughly €8.95. Moreover, the SmartPrice website also includes a list of OnePlus 6T covers that are already on sale for purchase.

We cannot be sure of what can be expected as OnePlus has neither denied nor confirmed the aforementioned rumours. The firm is heavily speculated to bundle their new headphones and audio adapters with the smartphones, however, a mere confirmation of the same is awaited. The smartphone manufacturer is expected to take the wraps off their smartphone on October 17. The device will probably be available for sale a week after the official unveiling event.
