Senior Congress Leader and former Cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu is making news these days. First, he was in the news for going to Pakistan Unofficially. Then for reciting a poem in praise of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and now over his photo with a Khalistani, Separatist leader. Sidhu, however, has denied recognising the Khalistani leader Gopal Singh Chawla.

Chawla Posted a photo of him standing with Navjot Singh Sidhu. A whirl of controversy was raised after the photo gets viral.

The Khalistani leader Gopal Singh Chawla is the leader of a group who seeks a separate nation for Sikhs.

According to a report by news agency PTI, Sidhu said “They showered love so much there. Every day ten thousand pictures were clicked. Among them who is Chawla or Cheema that I do not know.”

The Khalistan leader is the secretary of the Pakistan Sikh Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee.

Punjab State Minister Sidhu was in Pakistan for attending the inaugural ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor Project. The corridor is an initiative by Pakistani PM Imran Khan to connect Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur area of the country’s Narowal district, where the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak, died in 1539, to Dera Baba Nanak in India’s Punjab state.
