Bharatiya Janata Party leader and member of parliament Subramanian Swamy never fail to claim his place in the newspapers, for one reason for another. According to a report by News Agency PTI, Subramanyam Swami said that newly appointed governor of Reserve Bank of India, Mr. Shaktikanta Das is a highly corrupt officer. He also said that Das’s appointment as the governor of Reserve Bank of India came to him as a huge surprise. Swami didn't give the base to any of his allegations.
He was attending an event and there, he said, “I got him removed from the [Finance Ministry]. I am calling Shaktikanta Das a corrupt person. I am surprised that the man I got removed from the Finance Ministry for corruption was brought in as governor.”
While talking to the reporters, Subramanyam Swamy also said that the government should consider R Vaidhyanathan as the governor of Reserve Bank of India. Vaidyanathan is a Professor at Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore. Talking about him, Swami said that “He is also an old Sangh man. He is our man.”
Shakti Kanth Das is a former bureaucrat in the ministry of finance. He is newly appointed as the governor of Reserve Bank of India on December 11. He got his position after Urjit Patel resigned from the post. The resignation of Urjit came in the environment where the central government and the Reserve Bank was fighting over the Reserve money of the bank. Patel gave his resignation despite the fact that more than a year was left in his tenure for completion.
Subramanian Swamy, talking about Urjit Patel's resignation, said that this resignation is bad for the Indian economy, and bad for both Government and for the RBI. “He should at least stay till July until the next government comes to power.”
