US shivering in its coldest winters, emergency declared in three states

Several schools, universities are closed down, flights are cancelled as the temperature in the Midwest United States has dropped to a dangerously low level.
The temperature has fallen aftermath of coming of ‘Polar Vortex’ in the midwest. According to a report by the New York Times, three states (namely;  Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin) are declared under emergency.
What is Polar Vortex?
The polar vortex is a large area of low pressure and cold air surrounding both of the Earth’s poles. It ALWAYS exists near the poles, but weakens in summer and strengthens in winter. The term "vortex" refers to the counter-clockwise flow of air that helps keep the colder air near the Poles. In short, it is a stream of very cold air that revolves around the poles and sometimes comes to the South.
The National Weather Service in the US has released a statement in Polar Vortex which introduces Polar Vortex as ‘record arctic air mass’.
The service has also written about the possible hazards during the cold weather. Its statement says, “The arctic air with brisk winds, can lead to dangerously cold wind chill values. People exposed to extreme cold are susceptible to frostbite in a matter of minutes.
Areas most prone to frostbite are uncovered skin and the extremities, such as hands and feet. Hypothermia is another threat during extreme cold.”

Trump’s take
US President Donald Trump, in all his glory, attracted another controversy on the topic. He wrote on Twitter that the US is having its coldest temperature and hence declared Global Warming nothing but a failed hypothesis.

Many Twitter users slashed out Trump for bunking science classes in his high school.
