Passengers will now get accurate information about trains. The Ministry of Railways in association with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has accelerated the installation of this device in a rail engine under the Real-Time Train Information System (RTIS). By next month, 1700 rail engines will be equipped with this technology.
There will now be real-time reporting of trains running in all directions. The advantage of this is that passengers will get information about the time-table of trains running on different routes. Also, the railway will continuously monitor trains. Its advantage will also be that according to the information of trains running at a slow speed during the fog, passengers will be given correct information.
After successful testing in electric locomotives of Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Guwahati Rajdhani trains, the Railways is going to install this device in the engines of all trains. In the first phase, it has been decided to install this device equipped with GPS in a total of 2700 electric engines. By next month, 1700 engines will be equipped with this system. Railways have also prepared a roadmap to equip 6700 rail locomotives.
Will get 99.3 per cent accurate information
As per the Pilot Project Rajdhani trains, up to 99.3 per cent, accurate information is being received on arrival and departure of trains during RTIS test. According to the railway officials, information is being sought on the online train due to the technology of GPS-Aided Geo Enhanced Navigation System. Train operational officers will better monitor trains through this device.
Direct contact with the loco pilot when the train is late
If a train will be late on the way, it will be communicated directly to the control room by establishing direct contact with the loco pilot of the train. Due to the installation of this device in all trains, passengers will not have to be disturbed due to the late trains.
Actual information will also be shared on the display board
Passengers will be informed in advance about the running time of trains in the return direction due to the delay in running of trains due to fog or other reasons. Passengers will not be disturbed due to the estimated time and trains arriving late. Actual information about trains will also be available on the time-table display board. Inquiry centres and announcers will also provide real information to the passengers of the train.
