Is Baked Food Healthy - How to Choose Right Meal

Baking is one of the various cooking methods that improve the food’s flavour and shortens the cooking time. Also, we all are becoming so modernized and scientific, in terms of cooking that new methods are created to cook food which not only enhances its flavour but also minimizes cooking time. Baking is one of them. Baking is the method of cooking in which the food is dry heated in an oven. When compared to fried food, baked foods are considered healthy.

The best part of baking is that you will be consuming less oil as compare to the quantity consumed in frying or for sautéing.  You can even bake without oil. It helps in weight management because oil contributes the maximum level of fat to the human body.

Advantages of Baked Food
When we are concerned about healthy food, baked food comes first because baked food items are low in fat. Baking uses dry heat instead of water to cook food, some minerals and water-soluble vitamins such as vitamin-C, and vitamin-B are retained. The main ingredients in baked goods are flours from cereals such as wheat, maize, and sorghum. In general, all flours contain valuable amounts of energy, protein, iron and vitamins

Trans - Fat
Some snacks calming to be Lite Snacks use lower bound hydrogenated oil while deep fry the food. Trans - Fat are cheaper to produce and withstand high temperatures while cooking. A study revealed that trans-fat is responsible for 1 out of 5 heart attacks, it reduces the function of the immune system, and does increase obesity.

How they are low fat?
Just think about the baking environment and you can easily understand why it has low fat content. Baking is done in area which is fully covered, and no heat is passed outside until you open its door. So, this stored heat helps in releasing natural energy/fat from the food and in this way very little amount of oiling is done in the start which is just to kick the process of baking.

Don't Go Wrong
I’ll take a beating for this one, but I’m going there anyways. Most prepared baked snacks are just as bad for you as the four “foods,” as they contain several the same toxins. Many companies and fast food chains use roughly the same heap of ingredients for baked treats: Margarines and processed vegetable oils, white flours, refined sugars, and heavy amounts of preservatives and additives. Sound like the same recipe for disaster as with fast food and white bread? It is. But….,

How to Choose the Right Snack
Focus on Clean Label. Consumers and regulators continue to put new pressures on food manufacturers, asking for even more information on the label. Consumers want to know the origin of their food. Food transparency strategies are now critical elements of the industry—no longer optional.

Many varieties of snacks and breads sold in supermarkets have taken a huge hit in recent years. Their part of the myriad products struggling as consumers shift to more health and wellness foods. Despite this, more gluten-free, free-from and clean-label baked formulations are cropping up in stores, thanks to consumer demand for more transparent options that are convenient and more nutritious.

Now by knowing these benefits of baked snacks, and how to choose right over a fried, diet or a lite snack. I will prefer baked rather than cooking deep frying and making oily food on stove. Although, we cannot ignore the importance of stove cooking but where ever possible it is better to bake your snack.
